Welcome to Longboat Key

A tranquil barrier island with stunning beaches and luxurious living.

Longboat Key is a laid-back barrier island along Florida’s Gulf Coast, 20 minutes from downtown Sarasota and 1.5 hours south of Tampa Bay. Narrow and 11 miles long, Longboat Key has several pristine, white-sand beaches to choose from. Beachfront and bayfront property options include luxury homes and condos with concierge services to please any resident. Great temperatures year-round make it a sought-after tropical island to call home, with an inviting, cool sea breeze and swaying palm trees.

Locals are drawn to the slow-paced island life yet also enjoy being only minutes from all the big-city amenities of Sarasota. On the Longboat Key Trolley, passengers can conveniently move to and from Longboat Key, St. Armands Circle, and downtown Sarasota. Outdoor spaces for enjoying nature are abundant with parks, a preserve, and miles of beaches. Each February, art, food, and community come together at the Longboat Key Festival of the Arts. In May, the St. Armands Seafood & Music Festival features live musical performances and seafood prepared fresh on-site by local Sarasota restaurants.

Things to Do

One of the top reasons to live on Longboat Key is the array of outdoor activities residents can enjoy at any time of the year. There are several beaches to choose from, but Longboat Beach and Whitney Beach are the top two. On the southern section of the island, the public beaches of Longboat Key are accessible, with multiple points of entry. On the opposite end of the island, Whitney Beach is a tranquil and pristine beach that is less frequented and perfect for lounging, shelling, or enjoying the views of the mesmerizing turquoise water.

Walking, running, and cycling are popular ways to stay fit on the island, but so are playing tennis, golfing, paddle boarding, and kayaking. Avid tennis players can enjoy playing on top-quality courts at the Longboat Key Tennis Center. Kayakers and paddleboarders can take to the water from Bayfront Park with access to Sarasota Bay. For golfers, The Longboat Key Golf Club is the premier location for golfing in both Longboat Key and all of Sarasota County. For a hike or bird watching, jump on a trail at the Quick Point Nature Preserve with views of Sarasota Bay.
