The best place to launch a kayak, fish, bird-watch, walk, and go for a bike ride is at Bird Key Park, south of the bridge. Top white-sand beaches can be found at Lido Beach and South Lido Beach on Lido Key, only a few miles away.
Locals seeking to stay active can walk, run, bike, play tennis, kayak, or golf in multiple places on the island or nearby barrier islands. Golfers can choose to play at either the Longboat Key Golf Club or yacht club members may play at the impressive Laurel Oak Country Club in Sarasota.
